Doulingo

Last week we got introduced to a site called duolingo. The site is about learning languages. There is a range of different languages that you can learn. I am learning Russian lots of people say it is the hardest but it isn't that hard.

Our class has to do 10 minutes a day. You have a range of different badges. Once you have learnt a bit of the language that you are learning you will get asked to say something in the language that you are learning. Eto means this is. I really enjoy doing duolingo.

Escape From Kraznir

In our writing group we have been doing something called Escape From Kraznir. Our teacher has set slides on what to do on what days. Instead of doing quick writes we have to do Kraznir. We have to complete it by the end of this term. I am up to chapter 2. On different days we do different things.

On our first day we have to escape from the castle with the chest and start your way down what ever path you chose. On the second day you choose what you want to fight. There are more days but it will take to long to explain.

I enjoyed doing it for the first chapter and then it got a bit less fun. 

Cross Country

Today was our real cross country day. My competition was Nellie, Miriam and Ruby but there are three other very fast people though. I got seventh overall out of 18 including myself. Our whole school went down to the course. 

The year 6s have to go first because we have to longest race. It goes girls then boys though.                

Everyone cheers including the parents when you run past them. Once I had finished I felt like I could hardly breathe. 

At the end of the race everyone was so happy because cross country was over. I was glad that we were first because then it was over and done with. Here is a photo.

Cross Country Training

Next week we have cross country. Cross country is a long run that everyone at our school has to do. We all have to walk from our school to the cross country course were we will run along the sand dunes in our year groups. The first 5 people get to go to the interschools and compete for our school. If they get a placing out of the whole of gisborne that means that you are one of the best in gisborne. We have to do 2.5 laps when we are on the sand dunes but when you do it at interschools it is 3km. At interschools it is along a grass track with obstacles. We have been training alot! I am feeling quite good about getting
in the first 10.

Houora Cube

This term (term 3) our inquiry topic is Hauora Health and physical well being. We had to do a cube about  different things like what we do for our health and well being, what we believe, sports that we do and what we do as a family. Here is mine.

Marakai Challenge

Every year there is a competition on cooking.  People in Nui can enter recipes and they choose some groups to do it. I signed up to do it with my friend we got in and so we have to do the cook off on Friday. The rules were that we had to do 2 dishes and they could be a main, drink, side or dessert and there had to be 5 ingredients from our school garden. We did a main and a dessert. Our main is filled pasta with pasta sauce and our dessert is cheesecake in a glass. Here are 2 photos of our dishes.

Winter Solstice

In class we have been learning about the Winter Solstice. For one of our priorities ,priorities are things that we have to finish off by the end of the week, we had to do mapping of Stonehenge, Newgrange and Maeshowe. This was proof to the teacher so that they know that we know about the Winter Solstice. This is what we found out.
