"Please welcome up Wainui Beach School!" We walked up onto the stage. Kamo the kaea shouts. Our first song goes by in a blur and we are already onto haramai a paoa. The crowd applauds us as we finish our song. Ka pioioi Toho aroha haukainga e hoki mai ra. Yay the poi I thought in my head, because it is one of my favourites. Remember to smile I thought to myself as we started Utiana. Kaimo He! The haka had started. Two more songs I thought, Wainui e and then He Honore. As we went off the stage all the audience exploded into an applause. We all did it to show what we can do.

Kapa Haka Festival!
Chatters spread as we hop off the bus at the showgrounds. It was Wednesday the 20th of November 2019. We were going to the Turanganui Kapa Haka Festival our whole school was doing the kapa haka. Everyone was buzzing with excitement and nerves. We went into a huge hall to watch Wai. We got told to be quiet. After Wai had finished we went outside to get the piupius on for the front row. The moko kauae and black lipstick was getting irritating. We tiptoed over some sharp little stones to get next to the stage.
